CoastLab 2026: Physical Modelling in Coastal Engineering and Science
CoastLab is a conference that concentrates on Physical Modelling in Coastal Engineering and Science. CoastLab is organised under the auspices of and in collaboration with the IAHR Technical Committee on Coastal and Maritime Hydraulics. Coastlab26 builds on the success of conferences series held in Porto (2006), Bari (2008), Barcelona (2010), Ghent (2012), Varna (2014), Ottawa (2016), Santander (2018), Zhoushan (2020), and Delft (2024). CoastLab26, the latest in a series of successful conferences held in different locations around the world, will be hosted by Indian Institute of Technology Madras, organized under the auspices of the International Association of Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR).
We are thrilled to announce that Coastlab26 will be held in Chennai, on 23rd -27th Feb 2026.
India has a long coastline of about 7500 km and we see more sea than others see in the world. Department of Ocean Engineering, IIT Madras has been functioning as an academic department since 1982. IIT Madras hosts a hydrodynamic laboratory area of 11500sq.m in the main campus. In our Discovery campus, we have a wave basin of size 60m x 95m having a maximum water depth of 1m. Hence, it is fitting that leading conference, Coastlab will visit IIT Madras, Chennai.
Chennai is a vibrant metropolitan city, and a perfect location to enjoy the conference while also exploring the exciting coastal engineering projects. Further information on the conference will be published in the coming months. Sign up for alerts to stay up to date.
Please save the date, and we are looking forward to seeing you then.
